Belgium

Aviapartner Belgium, whose origins date back to 1949 (previously Belgavia) offers ground handling services to airlines at 4 Belgian airports:Antwerp, Brussels, Liège and Ostend . At Liège airport, passenger and ramp handling services are operated by Aviapartner Liège, a joint venture with the airport authorities. In Liège, cargo warehousing services are provided by Aviapartner Cargo Liège, a joint venture between Aviapartner, Liège Airport and Prologi. In Antwerp, services are outsourced.

  • Passenger handling: check-in, ticketing, boarding assistance, lost and found baggage services, assistance to disabled passengers, passenger ground transportation
  • Ramp handling: loading and unloading of baggage and cargo to/from aircraft on the ramp, ground power provision for aircraft, cleaning, water and sanitary services, freight and baggage transfer to terminal, crew transfer from aircraft to terminal/hotel, pushback and towing, with headset, aircraft de-icing
  • Traffic operations: preparation of flight documentation, ground to air communication, calculation of weight and balance, set-up of loadsheet, crew briefing, flight supervision
  • Cargo handling: warehousing, palletizing, import and export procedures, customs clearance, trucking services
  • Courier handling: transfer of courier and express shipments to/from other warehouses and aircraft, handling of express flights operated from the Brussels Airport Courier center

In 2008, Aviapartner Handling handled 44,640 flights and 6,700,000 passengers on the ground in the Belgian airports. Aviapartner Cargo handled 360,000 tons of cargo in 2008 in her warehouses at the airports of Brussels, Ostend and Liège. Aviapartner Belgium employs some 1,540 staff (including the group’s head office at Brussels Airport).

Facilities and Equipment

All necessary ground support equipment to handle aircraft up to B747 (high-loaders, powerpush units, pushbacks, noselifters, towing tractors, de-icers, toilet and water carts, start units, steps, ground power units, carts, dollies).

All Aviapartner stations use a DCS information system, either on the airlines' own DCS or on Aviapartner's own Common Language Environment (ACE).

Aviapartner's cargo warehouses at Brussels airport cover 40,000 m2 and the Courier Center 14,000 m2. Equipment includes a wide range of forklifts, tractors, several ULD building pits and slave positions, a stacker system with 500 ULD/pallet positions, and cooled and freezer storage capacity. At Ostend airport, Aviapartner offers a wide range of cargo handling facilities, including 8,100 m2 of cargo warehouses, plus 6,210 m3 of cooled storage.
In Antwerp and Liège Airport, Aviapartner offers cargo handling facilities as well.
